Penn State’s biggest offseason fear has been realized.
Freshman guard Kayden Mingo will enter the transfer portal, according to a report by Jonathan Givony on Wednesday morning. His younger brother Dylan Mingo, a North Carolina commit, reshared a post on Instagram with the news.
During his lone season in State College, Mingo was arguably the Nittany Lions’ best player, averaging 13.7 points, 4.3 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. He led the team in assists and steals.
The former four-star recruit was the highest-rated player to ever suit up for Penn State, but that experience was short-lived. He joins guards Freddie Dilione V, Melih Tunca and Eli Rice and forward Mason Blackwood as Nittany Lions going portaling.
Forward Ivan Jurić is the only player to publicly confirm his return for next season, and international forwards Roko Prkačin and François Wibaut have also signed with the team.
